Early Head Start

Low-income families with children from birth to three years and expectant mothers depend on Early Head Start (EHS) for child care. Both EHS, and its grantee, Maryland Family Network, Inc. (formerly Friends of the Family), are committed to promoting the importance of early intervention. The curriculum is designed to fully support infants’ and toddlers’ natural instincts of learning through their environment and relationships with others. Center services support parental roles and promote self-sufficiency.

Children in Early Head start programs perform better in cognitive and language development and have a higher level of social-emotional development.
